6:45 I holler at Joshua, Ethan, Jonah, Lulu, Maizie, to hop into the Suburban and remind them that I can’t be late. Our second counselor just had a baby, so it’s just the president and me. We stop briefly at Zoe’s dance studio to retrieve her, and as luck would have it, I run into a lady with whom I’ve never had a conversation shorter than 3 hours. Or 20 minutes, anyway. Miraculously, when I let her know I have somewhere to be, I’m able to escape in under 5 minutes.
6:55 We pull up to the church parking lot and everyone spills out of the car. Joshua runs to Young Men’s, and the rest of the kids and I head for the Primary room.
7:00-8:00 We participate in the Primary activity, which involves a scavenger hunt, games and treats.
8:10-8:25 We have a short presidency meeting, finalize names to submit for a couple of positions, and discuss some kiddos we have concerns about.
8:25-8:30 I gather up the kids, talk momentarily with my friends’ daughters about who I know who can microbraid their hair, and ask if we can have a hairdo afternoon on Saturday since their parents, my husband and I are going out to dinner and a movie on Friday night.
8:40 We arrive home, and Ethan, who’s caught his second writing wind, runs straight for his notebook and jots down a few more sentences in his story. He’s got his direction now, and he’s anxious to get it done and start on the illustrations. Just as a preview, one of the sentences is “Not by the hair of my hairy armpits.” Oh boy. ;)
8:55 I come upstairs, change into my pajamas, brush my teeth, and start working on this post again while watching the end of the Jazz game with Curtis. The babies are sleeping, and he puts them in bed.
9:00 Jonah crawls into bed next to me and promptly passes out. He’s been complaining about an earache and doesn’t feel well. I think the Primary activity wore him out and wonder whether I should have left him home.
9:39 I’m finishing this post and just summoned the kids via the intercom to get their, teeth brushed, pajamas on and come up to our room. Zoe is working on the computer and Ethan is lying on the floor, so more than half are accounted for (although some are sleeping!) As soon as we have Joshua, Maizie, Lulu and Sofie, we can read, pray, call it a day and hit the hay!
And then I’ll get up and do it all over again tomorrow.
Except the sleeping in part.
Dang it.
